The window panes of this 2nd floor window are constructed like shingles on a roof with just enough overlap between panes to prevent moisture from getting inside. Unfortunately they were not hail proof.
The round domed room on the 3rd floor has circular windows around the sides as well as one large round skylight at the center of the roof. Jefferson loved sunlight.
The two side windows that look directly back at the house outer wall have mirrors on their lower halves to block the uninspiring wall view.
The lower level, where the servants worked. Even they were treated to light.
