An Inside Paint Job
The front hallway and kitchen now sport walls of all shades of green, depending on when you look and where you look from. There are actually only 3 shades of green.
The New Champlain Bridge
Build it and they will walk. We walked the bridge today. The new Champlain Bridge has sidewalks, bike lanes and, crosswalks at either end. There were as many people walking across the bridge this cool, windy, dark, November afternoon as there were cars driving across it. We parked at the convenient parking lot on the New York side and walked across and back making sure to use the side walks on both sides. What a view, and finally a way to enjoy it!

The Lake recedes and summer begins
A beach on steroids
All this beach and the hammock trees still have their feet in the water!
But we've adapted quite well
And Sophie is delighted she has a beach to run on once again. (Woof, will you please let me off this leash.)

I don't like this new look at all. For one thing I want my beach back and for another I don't like viewing it from the top of this picnic table.
Bring back my beach?! I don't understand floods and the like. I just want to run and roll and smell!

May 28, 2011 The Power of Wind and Waves
The south wind is a powerful force. We lost about 3 feet of shore front this week. Note the purple martin house on an angle in the background. It's concrete base is in the water.
And our bridge is no longer acting like a dam, keeping the debris from going upstream.
